Welcome to the forum. If the bike has been sitting,it will need a oil change, probably a valve adjustment, and some SeaFoam in a tank of fresh fuel.

Emgo...I have used these for 6 or 7 years, no problems...I would not use K&N.

Welcome! Cold Start sounds like a Valve adjustment is needed from what I have read and heard from other members. Sounds like your on the right track there. And my favorite bottle of magic is seafoam. Can't say enough good stuff about it.

thanks. ill probably put savage shocks on mine. just got the manual today so a valve adjust is in order, what ive seen on here is the en450 "likes" a valve adjustment every 5000 miles or so.

Yep, on the valve adjustments.....make sure you have the bike running as "perfect" as possible before you do any "mods" to the engine, such as pod air filters, etc.

yesiree . from what ive read all pod filters do is make room under the seat, batt area mine has brand new stock filters in it right now so i wont be changing anytime soon. also why does the right plastic "454" cover seem to be so in demand that people on ebay want 50-75 $ for it. the left ones are usually 30 or so. im missing r/s cover and footpeg .

Because that's the one you want. If you wanted the other side, they would be giving this one away.

It's a sad fact that, since these bikes are no longer made, very few "optional" add-ons were made for it, that just about any parts, to include the side covers, etc, are getting scarcer as days go by, and the prices get higher and higher. We here "love" our 454s, so we just gotta be prepared to both take good care of them, and pay the prices for parts. I have a pretty good supply from a total of 4 complete and partial 454s, and one of these days, I hope to try to get an inventory together. Shipping has gotten so costly, that it is a deterant, but holler if u need something...I just might have it, and be willing to part with it.
