I recently just got a 85 ltd 454 and put k&n's on it . It seems the top of the valves are connected together with 1 hose. and there is 1 box on the bottom of th ebike with hoses going to it i think this is a evaporator can i get rid of this? and also what are the 2 lines that connect into the bottom of the tank not the petcock ones?

Sounds like u got a California model. Take all that emissions stuff off...plug the two hose prots on the valve cover, and the one vacucumn hose that went to the emissions valve that was over the valve cover. The two hoses fron the tank are vents.

Of the multiple spots that say, "remove California emissions", none say why the holes need plugged. Call me curious, but why do they need plugged other than to keep debris from entering the valve assembly?

They dont actually! you can just use the two pipes as top end breathersas long as you make sure you route the pipe(s) up under the tank and terminate them into a breather bottle some where.... this method is used on a lot of race bikes because it reduces pumping losses, so the engine revs a bit faster..... its one of the mods I hve to do to mine...

If you do some investigation, you will find that the Canadian models (they do not have emmision regs) do not have these ports. They should be plugged...or, you can buy or make plates to install in place of the ports...also makes the engine top look cleaner. Or, find a Canadian valve cover. There isa link to the block-off plates in this forum.
