Is it necessary to have the vent line hooked up> The vent line on my carbs is about a foot long - thinking it would be simpler to remove the line and point the vent T down.

The vent line is there to prevent a very dangerous fire. If that vent drips even a little bit onto something hot, such as the exhaust; you're going to start an instant blaze. Keep the vent line; it should be routed to where it will vent BELOW the bike for safety purposes.

Can someone post a picture of where these vent lines connect on carbs? There are two "T"s the bottom one is fuel line.......upper "T" is the vent tube.

The bottom I can tell is fuel and the only other T that I can find on carbs comes from both carbs close to the diaframs and they are connected together with a t.This will go up to my petcok.Correct?

Yep that is correct. It will have vacuum. The "t" for the vent is down between that & the fuel "T". If it is blocked in anyway the bike will not rev up.

Found it.PO had capped it off. Bike was not running and carbs were off when I got it. Trying to finish getting it all back together. The plan is to fire it up day after tomarrow. Thanks.

Ah this is what i've been looking for .. the right side of my carb has a plug and the left side has the vent to the petcock. Should i fashion together a T- hose and hook both to the petcock?

And by the way, that is not a vent...it is a vacum port...the petcock operates by vacum.

Some how this thread started of on a question on the vent line & got switched to a Vacuum line question. As stated the vacuum runs to the petcock. The vent line is the one with clear tube on it directly above the fuel "T".

read the post from 22 hours ago, Blaine.....yes, things did get sorta confusing....but the post I refer to is talking about the "vent" line that is on top of the carb...he called them vents....said one was plugged, the other went to the petcock....has to be the vacum port on top of the carbs he was calling vents.
