Hey Guys...new to motorcycles and the 454. I've seen a lot of good information on here about the benefits of Seafoam, but I have a couple of questions about how much to use for different scenarios. If you could help me out I would appreciate it. - If you want to pour the Seafoam direct into the carbs to clean the bowl and jets and let it sit overnight, how much should you pour in after you drain the gas from the bowls?
- If your motor is running but you want to give your carbs a good cleaning by running some through your fuel tank with your gas, but still be operable?
- And finally, if you just want a maintenance dose of Seafoam, like adding it to every other tank like several guys have mentioned, just to keep your carbs "squeaky clean"?
Thanks for all the help and this website has been so helpful to get me up and running with my '85.
Sorry for the duplicate, I originally posted this on the "General Board" but realized it should have been under the Carbs section.

If you use like a turkey injector (big syringe), you drain your bowls with the little screw at the bottom, then use the injector and a short piece of hose to back fill the bowls through the drain, then close the drain once the bowls are full. Seafoam will come out the carb overflow once they are full. Let it sit overnight, drain the bowls of seafoam and let them fill with fuel. Then add about 2-3 ounces (2-3 shotglasses) to you tank, and you should be good to go. Then about every other tank, about an ounce will do.
If you are going to not ride for 2 weeks or more, you should always have some in the tank.
Will not harm the bike in ANY way running it in the tank. Fuel mileage will drop SLIGHTLY on the tanks with it in it, but afterwards, it will go up.

Don't forget there are two ways to get SeaFoam. The one you pour in your tank & the spray can for cleaning valves & combustion chambers.I also deleted your other thread for you.

Blaine, thanks. When using the spray can, how much do you suggest to spraying into each carbs? Also, can that simply be done by removing the air filter and spraying through the airbox?

Try to spray it into the carbs, not just into the airbox. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using the ProBoards Mobile App

I am not sure and have never heard of it but I just thought of this. If you use the spray is it possible that your bike is so clean that no smoke would come out? Or would the spray still cause a smoke.

Why go through all that? Why not just pour it into the tank?
