Hi All,
I've had my 450 for several months now and done quite a lot to it. The belt drive has been converted to chain and the silencers replaced with aftermarket cones. I replaced the flywheel/magneto as the original magnet sections were looking scary. New head bearings, front disc, pads, tyre and a new (used) radiator and hoses have all been fitted.
I thought the bike was running quite well and even took a video of a rideout to Lake Coniston (famous for the death of Donald Campbell in the Bluebird water speed attempt). Here's a link to the YouTube video:
In the video, I get overtaken by my mate on a Deauville 650 but I've changed the plugs, plug caps, and HT wires plus tightened up the rubber carb connectors and I reckon the power has improved so much that I doubt he'd be able to do it again... well, not as easily!
I normally ride a Honda ST1100 and the 450 was bought as a runaround while fixing the ST1100. I'v grown to like the lightness and comfort of the thing so much that I may not sell it when my Pan European is finally fixed!
Cheers, Paul.
