Just bought my first bike I've ever owned, a 1985 Kawasaki 454 LTD. My dad is a Harley rider, and this is my introduction into the world of owning a motorcycle. I have a few questions, and most likely a lot more will turn up. Hopefully you guys on here can help me out when they come up.
So some initial questions I have:
1. Seafoaming. My plan is to put some sea foam in the tank with my first tank of gas. How much should I put in, and what is the general process? Also, is it necessary to use the arosal cans to spray sea foam into different areas of the bike? Or is just some liquid sea foam in the tank good enough?
2. Customization. Wondering if anyone has any experience customizing this bike. Right now I'm specifically looking at the seat (Would like a more streamlined, small seat. Anywhere to buy/make one?) new handgrips (replacing them. Is there a specific process for this bike?) any tips on other areas of customization would be appreciated. I'm a college student so I don't have much money to put into it, but love the idea of working on it and doing some "do it yourself" type of cheap customization.
3. Blinkers. My right blinker works fine, but on the left side it just turns on, but doesn't blink. This makes me think the bulbs are fine (it turns on) but it doesn't blink for some reason. Is this with the electricals? Anyone have similar problems?
4. RPM's. After riding my dads harley a lot, and driving stick shift, it seems unnatural to be cruising at 55 mph while doing 55000 RPM's. This seems high to me, but I know these bikes are made to ride that way and the redline is all the way at 10000 RPM's. Is riding at that high, and shifting at 50000 RPM's fine for the engine and fuel efficiency?
