I have a 1989 ltd 454 , just rebuilt the carbs- never had the bike running before, and it sounds pretty good and does run, however the left pipe backfires and has less pressure coming out than the other pipe. I have no idea of what else is wrong with the bike when I got it, the previous owner just said the carbs needed rebuilt. When I rebuilt them the pilot idle mixture screws were turned all the way in. I am pretty sure this was not right so I put them 1 and a half turns out. Could these be causing this? Anything helps. Thanks

Thanks Still too far in.2 1/2 turns is a good starting point than adjust slowly with bike running to acheave smoothest idle.
