Hi all, excited to have picked up a 1987 454 ltd in pristine condition with less than 7,000 miles on it as my starter bike and I love it! I had new tires put on and the mechanic mentioned that it was like a 'time machine' since it was so well kept and had all the original stickers and components, including the original little tool kit, there. The bike had been sitting for 3 years with the previous owner but running, however i noticed that after it has warmed up, it doesn't idle very well. every now and then with the choke off, it will idle at 3,000 - 4,000 RPM, however most of the time it will just shut off. When it idles at high RPM's, it will get down to normal idle if i open up the choke a bit, and then shut off. Just wondering if anybody has any advice as to what might be the most obvious fix to this? thanks!

Welcome.Carbs are likely a little gummed up from sitting.Run some carb cleaner (SeaFoam) thru a tank of fresh fuel. Also idle should be around 1200 R.P.M. with bike fully warmed up with choke off.
