My headlight won't go to high beam. I changed the switch and the reserve lighting relay. I can get it to go, if I put it between high and low on the switch. Does anybody know why this is happening? Both switches do the same thing. Thanks

Just taking a stab, since no one has replied to this. Have you thought to check the Reserve Lighting Device? I 'think' the EN450 has one, but I might be confusing it with a 750 that I also rebuilt. I remember finding the device under the seat, mounted on top of the plastic inner fender. I wondered what it was and started fishing around for answers and learned it's a safety device that senses when one of the headlight bulb filaments burns out and automatically switches to (the other filament, or to low beam, I forget which) to prevent unexpected loss of light at night.
Just wondering if maybe your device's contacts are corroded or maybe its internals are burnt out or otherwise defective/inoperative. No idea really if that device's failure could cause your symptoms, but if you still have the problem it might be worth trying to bypass the device as a test, or to troubleshoot the device to make sure all the contacts are clean.

Thank you, I've checked everything, and found out someone has messed with the wiring. I'm in the process of redoing it back to the way it should be. I did change the reserve lighting module, but it didn't make a difference. I don't ride much at night, so I might just forget about it.

Good luck with it; let us know if you solve it ok? There's no telling what other guys have done to our machines as they pass through unskilled hands.

Good news everyone! I got it fixed! Someone had put the wrong ignition switch in it, and tried to make up for the missing wires by jumping them to others. I changed out the ignition switch, and the whole main wiring harness. It all works perfect now. Thanks for everyone's help.
