I thought I would toss this out there for whoever may want to try this.
ArmorAll Trim & Plastics Restorer
The right and left controls on my handle bars were faded and even had a bit of gray oxidized haze to them. I worked them over with some lacquer thinner to remove any oils/dirt that was ground in. *Note: It will remove the white lettering. The directions say to rub on and leave a thin film, wipe off with micro.....blah blah blah. I tried it and it did work... overnight. Within a day or two it was back to looking old and busted again.
Who read directions anyways?....right?
I found that by gooping this stuff on and letting it sit over night it soaks in better. After about two or three treatments the plastics look great and it has been a couple of weeks now. I am going to try this on the blinker plastics as well. I don't see any reason this shouldn't work just as well for them.

Just make sure you keep up with the plastic restorer stuff. I used it on my bike and it looked great. Washed the bike and less then a week later it looked worse then it started out and plastic restorer didnt even faze it the second time. May need to reapply after every wash as soon as it drys. Not sure if even that will help though

I tried that with a spare part I had. It cam out looking okay, but the finish is still single part paint...rattle can. I thought about getting a number of blacks and other colors and going to town on it. It may look better in the end...but rattle can glory isn't what I had in mind. That was my first truck, '69 Dodge camper special.

It doesn't cost much to get a setup from a place like Harbor Freight for a airbrush set...or a small compressor (one was advertised for 40 bucks recently) should power a small paint gun......then you could use good auto paint.

I have been thinking of getting one of those. That would be perfect for small parts. The other idea I was thinking about is getting a HF powder kit and used toaster oven. Powder coat chrome on the engine covers would be sweeeeet.
