I was doing my valves today and the a.i.r system peed me off. I decided I was not going to deal with it again. wanting my bike back today I decided to do what some here listed as just capping the intake ports off. Well while at the hardware store I saw a great product and thought id try it. so far so good waiting for a longer ride in warmer weather to see if they fail. Its the quick connects that they use for plumbing now a days. All it does is push on and bites in the metal. I used them in my house for years. As long as the internals don't fail due to heat They should hold up. It goes by many names but the most common are shark bites.

You can also get plates, that replace those ports....makes a "cleaner look" to the valve cover. They are talked about in another thread here in the forum.

i have a pair of copper end caps I will shortly be doing the same job with - does it make any difference removing the reed valves underneath?

I never did..it's blocked off, so those reed valves are non-operational.

yea eaglerider i saw those plates. I was not planning on removing the system. I did the valves as you all have recommended. Those hoses where so cracked it had air leaks thought of leaving it on and then tired to do the plugs. I am ordering the plates but this system works i don't think its ugly but still getting plugs out is a royal pain. I hate that really to get plugs out i use a 1/4 inch ratchet or I pull the tank.. This sites shown me a lot already. I really appreciate it and this bike is quiker than i planned. I still need to replace the air cleaners they look like crap.

did i miss something on the swap? i did not change the airbox so I did nothing with that lower vent line. I pulled the oil cap off and had a ton of pressure coming out.

Well a little more poking and proding the crank case hose just fell off. Looks like it was out of place and pinched. slide it all back together and reseated it tightly. All seems good now.
