I just bought a set of screaming eagle slip on mufflers. They are loose on the stock pipes ( do not fit). So I pretty much need a step by step on how to install slip on mufflers

The way I (and others, per my directions) have done this: Cut the header pipes just in front of the crossover, eliminating the crossover....get two pieces of 1 3/4 inch exhaust tubing about 2 or so ft long (one for each side)...this will drive over the header pipe about 3 or so inches..trim off the end, if driving it on the header pipe has messed up the end. Now, any 1 3/4 inch inlet muffler will clamp on. You may want to put a slight bend in the the "extension", if you want the mufflers to angle slightly upwards. If left straight, you can get an idea of what it looks like if you look at the pics of "Eagle" in the Photo Gallery.

Can I leave the cross pipe for now? I was just going to use some adapters with the the original pipe and then later this week cut the cross pipe off and weld the holes closed
