I am having an issue with a weird noise in my front drive sprocket on my 85'. I hear it most when I am coming to a stop with the clutch pulled in. Noise sounds like a deep "clicking?" where it sounds like it is vibrating or something. The drive belt doesn't have chunks out of it but it is moderately worn. I suspect the drive gear at the belt is worn enough to not work well anymore. What are your guys' thoughts?

Sounds like front pulley is worn. You can quiet if for a bit by packing the sprocket & splines on shaft with grease.

This is my main vehicle these days and I love it. Thinking that I need to replace that front drive pulley. I get the noise at any speed whenever the bike isn't actively accelerating. Sound like the proper step to you guys? Bike only has 14k miles on it but the guy before me had no idea what he was doing and I've spent the last 2 months fixing his mistakes.

You can check if it has play on the shaft.....If it does replace it.

When I got my 89 it had this issue, the shaft splines on the drive sprocket were completely dry, but not worn. Fixed with a cleaning and a light coating of synthetic grease.
