Hi guys, I just bought my 87 454 and it has a mid range bog from 5-7K at WOT that you notice when im trying to join traffic or passing, stuff like that. Just like it says in the article here on this site that describes the symptoms to a tee about dropping the needles to remedy the hesitation So Im thinking this should be a pretty quick fix, to bad the guy that sold it to me didn't read the article lol My question is, The way I see it you must have to remove shims to drop the needles correct? If so and there was no shims to remove, What is the next move?lol

Yes, I agree, I think were saying the same thing but what I gathered from reading the article, that if the high speed cicuit is correct from 7-10K which the bike works well, then the stumble from 5-7 is a rich issue and that's why I was going to drop the needles but the shims have already have been removed by someone else. I don't think its a lean bog as it seems to get worse the hotter the temperature is outside. I guess I should have done a plug reading before attempting to adjust mixture. Will definitely check the air filters. Thanks

Easy to check.....Pull chock on when I bike stumbles & you will have your answer......A stumble usually means ,,,lean. Had some pretty good luck today , found that the one air filter was pretty well completely blocked and the other one was not to bad, Im going to try and source some filters very soon. Does anybody know the part # for the filters? The foam seal is pretty messed up on the filter so I guess its time. Bike seemed to pull good on a quick test run. Did a plug check after the test and they looked good color but had some deposits on them still from the filters being plugged.
Thanks for your help Blaine
