Hi Blaine What paint did you use on your forks? Any special prep? I was thinking of trying spray on bed liner for a textured look.

i would think a bed liner would be to thick. might cause clearancing and mounting issues.

Hi Blaine What paint did you use on your forks? Any special prep? I was thinking of trying spray on bed liner for a textured look. I used Krylon indoor outdoor satin black. No special prep, just light sanding. This is the second season and no problems.I have used Krylon "outdoor spaces" textured finish on the, master cylinder, engine valve cover, top carb covers, horn, fuse box cover, and the tool box.It looks good and hides minor imperfections perfectly.I don't see any reason not to use it on the forks if you want to.It matches the finish on the engine almost perfectly.

I removed the original plate holder & inner fender.Than I fabed a set of L brackets to bolt under the tale light,to hold the new plate frame.A strip of white LED's mounted to the bottom of the tail light works well for a plate light & is next to invisible. Here is a updated pic with the rear dropped another 3".

Thanks.I took the shocks apart & cut 2 coils off the top of the spring.Shocks are now 8 1/2" long with no weight on the bike.I thought it would be to low for 2-up riding. But it's fine. It's pretty stiff with one person.Almost like a hard tail.

lojavascript:add("%208-)")okin real good buddy! any chance you could give some instructions on cuttin those shock coils? maybe even some pix? Sorry,no pics. The biggest part of the job is fabing a small spring compressor.I made one up using the hooks from bungie cords & a couple ofbolts.Than you can cut the coils with a grinder.

oh i see, so instead of disassembling the entire shock you remove the stress from the coil itself, make your cut, remove the unwanted section of coil, then release the coil and you're done? sounds pretty easy that way.

Sounds interesting, how do the shocks come apart. You compress the spring and then what? Does the upper chrome spring cup have some sort of retainer that holds it in place?

Yes on these after market shocks there is a retainer that you can remove so you can remove the cup & spring. This is imposable to do on the originals as the retainer is not removable.

if memory serves me right, under the chrome cover at the top of the shock under a little rubber cover there is a nut that if you undo the shock will come apart, it is not easy but it is possible. with it apart you can now cut the spring down to size. if i can find the shocks that i made i will photo the process again. its far easier just to fit ls650 suzuki shocks
