Is there any way to fill in or smooth out the stone chips on the front forks, I need to replace the seals but need to do something about the forks or else they will just wreck the new seals, would like to keep original front shocks instead of buying new ones

I have some pretty bad ones myself, so when I did my seals I spent about 45 min. sanding each tube. I started with 400 then 600 grit. Since then, not a trace of oil leaking yet. I put a little write up about the fork seal replacement in my entry in the photo gallery, just a few extra tips that might come in handy. happy wrenching!

Most likely, you are confusing the dust shields (the visible black rubber part) with the actual fork seals, which are down at the end of the fork tubes, inside the lower part of the forks.

Sorry I meant the dust seals, I'll give them a sand and see if I can take the sharp edges off, does any one have a link to a good company or dealer who makes seals for these shocks, I've found some on eBay but not sure if they are reliable brand, read in a post a while back some one ordering seals and they turned out to be wrong ones for bike, thanks again for the help guys, happy to have the bike home so I can really start working on it, baffles, solo seat, seals on shocks, valve adjustment, pod filters and re-paint can't wait:)
