For those who have asked for pictures on doing a valve adjustment, here are what a managed to save. For some reason some of them didn't turn out. I will not post a how to since GWK has already done a superb job of that and you only need to go to the 454 site to get it. I will say that it is VERY important to remove EVERYTHING that might possibly be in the way. The radiator, fan, thermostat housing, coils (please remember to mark the wires and where they belong), coolant overflow bottle (don't forget to remove the hanger also) Coil wires the hanger for the coolant bottle good time to remove the extra P.A.I.R. junk I pulled the tach drive shaft off first so as not to drop it into the engine The coolant tubes can be stubborn but if you wiggle it while GENTLY prying up on the brace, it should come out The photo of the bottom of the cover didn't turn out but this is the hole in the block where the stud goes. Be careful that it doesn't fall out. There is one on each side of the engine. Top dead center is REALLY as easy as it sounds. it is very clearly marked. There are 2 valves per cam lobe which need adjustment. Adjust valves with cam lobes pointing upward. I hope these help someone. Maybe others can add to or further identify what they see.

You don't have to remove radiator, just thermostat housing, and fan, might be easier to leave stuff on radiator and pull it all at once, don't know. Its also helps to gently remove copper oil lines to give more feeler clearance.

Happy to do it. Just sorry the valve cover pics didn't turn out. That would have done a much better job of showing the studs.

Got it thnk u! I'm learnin have patients You can simplify things by not using the marks. As long as the nose of the cam is facing up (away from the adjuster) you can adjust that one & do the same for the rest.

when you say the nose of the cam, are you meaning the lobe?

when you say the nose of the cam, are you meaning the lobe? Yes.As long as it is pointing away from the adjuster (pointed towards you) the valve is closed and you can adjust your clearance.(It shows it clearly in the last picture)
