Here is what I did to go from the stock seat to the Suzuki LS650 single seat: Stock: Then I pulled the seat, fender, and tank away: The arrow above shows the part of the frame that has to be cut away for the seat to sit properly. After cutting away the frame i used two bolts with stacks of washers to create a channel for the tongue on the front of the seat to fit into just in front of where the gas tank mounts to the frame. (see arrows above and below) Under the seat are two threaded mounting points that need to be extended to reach the existing holes on the frame that I wanted to use. I used some scrap metal (weights from the bottom of old vertical blinds) and drilled and tapped them then bent to fit after they are on you can see where to mark to remove any excess metal so the fit is clean. I used the existing holes from the back of the frame and put 1/4-20 bolts through so that they pass cleanly through the holes and only thread into the metal plates I added to the seat. When done it looks and feels really good, very secure. I got my seat off ebay for around $40

I got this one on eBay, but I have gotten other seats by checking wrecking yards in the area. There used to be a website that you put your info into and they contacted all the yards in the country. Try googling motorcycle wrecking/junk yards.

Thinking about attempting this on one of mine once I can find the seat. What did you do with the turn signals, tail lights and wiring?

I did away with all the turn signals and packed the wiring under the seat and behind the right cover.

Very Nice ! Question : When you replaced your handlebars did you have to use different cables for the throttle ?

So a billion years later I see your question, sorry. I didn't replace my cables but I did have to re-run them to take up some slack and then re-adjust the clutch a little.
