Well, I planned to mount the rear tire to have a roller today, but my rear hub sleeve has gone awol bringing everything to a grinding halt Time to look through everything again for a 3rd time. Awesome...

So my rear hub sleeve/collar is on order...I have no idea what happened to that thing, other than hiding it from myself. After turning everything over 4 times trying to find it, I just bought a new one.
Controls aren't happening either...So I have to reorder more, seller issued a refund, because they were confiscated by the post office.
Maybe the middle of October, I'll have it on the road...with DMV registration/taxes, insurance etc. to do.
I'll be continuing with updates as I make them, because there's still a good amount to do besides the hub collar and controls: Wiring, exhaust, front fender, blinkers, gauges, etc.
Thanks for the compliments and support everyone, it's helped keep me motivated. I should have a few more pictures up later today. I'm going to work on the wiring harness etc.

Hug sleeve/collar came in so I removed the back wheel and put it in today. Wire routing is going well, I am relocating: The horn, Key Switch, Fuse panel, and Indicators. Also making parts lists and price hunting them out for the best deals for the few final finishes I need.
In the mean time, just finishing up the small finer details, and brain storming and making mods. It might be a couple of more weeks before any notable updates.

You've got some really cool ideas here!!
I guess I wasn't paying attention - what rear fender is that off of?

Thanks, it is a NOS factory rear fender for an Indian Spirit, from the Gilroy, California days; the company licensing the Indian name that made the Spirit went bankrupt right before the latest big motorcycle boom and the assets were sold off. This fender and my front one (from a Scout) is from that sale. Polaris bought the right to manufacture under the Indian brand name so the Indian motorcycle lives again.

Don't come hit me, now jet ...there's things I like about that rear fender...... and some, I dont. I might have made it just a little shorter, so that it didn't "hang down" quite as low in the rear....but hey, not my bike & ideas going into the build.....I wanna see the end result!! ;D

It doesn't bother me at all Eagle; everyone has their own tastes in fenders etc. I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, I like rear fenders that nearly drag the ground so to me it is a little too high already ;D
I wouldn't like it at all if it looked this way with the belt adjusted...but the axle is all the way forward in the photo so it's pretty wonky looking in the picture.

Aha...maybe that is why it looks kinda like it does to me...the wheel way out of place would change the looks considerably. Lets see....I think I remember that "style" was called a specific name, but don't remember what it was. Actually, I like the fender to come about half way down the back of the tire...that is in my mind's plan, along with a Tombstone rear taillight (which I have). I actually have a good portion, if not most, of the parts for my "projected" build, just gotta get the frame done, and the engine I'm gonna use, all cleaned up, finished assembled, etc. Gotta pull parts off another 454 engine (sad that I gotta tear up a good engine) that will go on the "fire breathin" 500 I'm gonna use (makes my current 500 kinda puny, in comparrison).

Thanks guys, I could have done some stuff better but meh...I've been being lazy putting off increasing the lever clamps etc from 7/8's to an inch for my bars, until I get all the final parts in from order, and do a final last push and finish it, My bars are going to be more cluttered than I want; but at the same time I like bar switches and a front brake so...both can't win so it's one of the other, guess I'm still debating it and calling it laziness.

Thanks for the accolades...Revelations, Zombie Hunter is Mradams bike; he was thinking of orange and white; and seeing my build "Wabi-Saki" I think helped him make a decision.
Wabi-Saki is a play on words of the Japanese Zen art style known as Wabi-Sabi. If anyone is curious where the name came from...it is also themed off of the Venture Brothers series character; Molotov Cocktease. The orange paint decision is actually a hidden safety feature for better visibility on the road and in intersections.

Glad to hear you're going to have a new work space; and also to see how your build progresses. I've been stalled out, deciding and waiting on parts.
The finished ETA is still before the end of October; everything should be in by at least the middle of this month, so I can slap it up and turn it out.

I've had vn500 forks since last Christmas and haven't had the money to get the other parts to switch over. I'll get there eventually!!! I can at least ride. Just put 100 miles on today. It was GREAT!!

that bike pretty slick mate, and its been helping me build ideas for what id like to do with mine this winter... by chance where did you get that seat from?

Post by Jet⚡Black on Oct 6, 2012 16:32:16 GMT -6
I believe it is meant for a Suzuki VL800; I had to cut the front tab off the seat, and trim the tank mount closer to the bolt hole and trim the frame cross bracket off. I may end up changing it out after riding it around if it's not to my liking. It seems fine just sitting on it...I suppose it's odd I haven't made a revving noise while doing that.

...............CRAP!!!!!! I should have left those tabs on...........
hey can you edit that post and enter after each pic so they line up vertically instead of horizontally?

just carefully drill holes in the seat pan where you need them to be, I try to keep all tabs and mounts stock until I know it's ok to go. usually then only if it's from being in the way, no telling what could get bolted there later, I am not going to use side covers; but I'm keeping those, in case I mount a spare fuel bottle holster or drink caddy for touring...ya never know, what a tab or mount might come in handy for.
Adam not exactly sure what your asking, but i'll separate the links with a space if it's odd in your browser.

I think the thing with the pics are they are so large, they almost dont fit on one "page".....maybe they need to be re-sized a bit smaller, but showing them vertically instead of horizontally makes them better to look at.
