How did you make and install the forward controls (6,4" here) ?
Well, on the shifter side, I just cut the bracket and welded a piece of 1/2"x1"x8"or10" long. My son has the bike right now and I'm not sure the lenght I used. I used the same height as the stock peg. As for the shifter I used 1/4"x1" and welded a tab on the lever after cutting it off to give it a pivot point and to have a hole for the linkage to bolt to. I welded a piece on the part that goes on the shaft in order to bolt the linkage to it also.
On the brake side I just cut and welded a piece of 3/8"x2" on the front of the stock bracket and made the bracket for the foot peg with two pieces of angle iron.
The brake pedal, I welded a piece of 1/2" ID tubing to the stock pedal. It could use a stonger spring somewhere to help with the return due to the added weight.
New swingarm for the wider tire?
Nope............. just mounted the tire on the stock rim and it fit perfect. I thought I was going have to remove the center stand but it fit in between it also. I just removed the center stand for look reasons. Not sure all tires are the same, I ordered Kenda K673 Kruz 170/80-15 77H for the back and Kenda K673 Kruz 110/90-19 62H for the front. That was the cheapest matching set I could find.
Aftermarket signals or from a different bike?
The front signals are aftermarket which came with the bike, The rear signals I ordered on ebay BULLET STOP TURN SIGNAL LIGHT CHROME RED DUAL FIL PAIR HARLEY OEM REPLICA BOBBER ( 230825399999 ) for $38 I did have to change the flasher unit in order for the turn signals to work. A buddy of mine used it on his KLR 650 in order to use LED signals, he bought it at some truck stop or something, not sure. It was $15
V&H pipes? Did you have to adjust carbs/air breather?
Bought a pair of screamin eagle slip ons off of ebay for $50 free shipping. I did weld a reducer and regular exhaust pipe onto the header pipe and then the slip ons fit right on. I cut the brackets off of them and added new ones to the pipe and to the frame, but yes it does sound great.
I did nothing to the carbs...........yet. I did buy the cone filters but have not had the chance to install them yet.
That sound is awesome. Great job!
Thanks again. Hope that was helpful
