You may need to modify one for a 500 as shown in the link I posted. I would but they are just as rare over here

According to the world wide parts supplier: www.cmsnl.com/ the Fly wheel part number is: 210501110 (21050-1171) and on another website: www.powersportsplus.com/parts/detail/kawasaki/KP-21050-1110.html They say the following model/year all used the same flywheel. Directly from the site: This Kawasaki 21050-1110 FLYWHEEL is also used on these models and components: 1985 EN450-A1 454 LTD GENERATOR 1986 EN450-A2 454 LTD GENERATOR 1987 EN450-A3 454 LTD GENERATOR 1987 EX500-A1 EX500 GENERATOR 1988 EN450-A4 454 LTD GENERATOR 1988 EX500-A2 EX500 GENERATOR 1989 EN450-A5 454 LTD GENERATOR 1989 EX500-A3 EX500 GENERATOR 1990 EN450-A6 454 LTD GENERATOR 1990 EN500-A1 Vulcan 500 GENERATOR 1990 EX500-A4 EX500 GENERATOR 1991 EN500-A2 Vulcan 500 GENERATOR 1991 EX500-A5 EX500 GENERATOR 1992 EN500-A3 Vulcan 500 GENERATOR 1992 EX500-A6 EX500 GENERATOR 1993 EN500-A4 Vulcan 500 GENERATOR 1993 EX500-A7 EX500 GENERATOR 1994 EN500-A5 Vulcan 500 GENERATOR 1995 EN500-A6 Vulcan 500 GENERATOR 1996 EN500-A7 Vulcan 500 GENERATOR Whether this is actually, the case or not I can't say for certain.

Wrong.....the 454 and 500 fire different, and the fireing is acutated by the flywheel. Plus, the 500 is a single pickup, the 454 is a dual pickup (there are 2 pickups inside the stator cover on the 454, only 1 in the 500)....that is why the 454 flywheel has to be used in the 500 to make it fire and run in the 454 chassis, and why the 500 flywheel will not allow the 454 engine to fire right. That is the reason someone figured out a way to modify the late model ex 500 flywheel to work on the 454. The two flywheels look the same, but the "fireing point " is different. It is sorta like on a car engine with a distributer....if u put it in wrong, the engine will not start and run.

Yep,you modify the 500 one so that the firing tab is in the exact same spot on the flywheel as the 454.plus as the 500 it single pickup it has two firing tabs. One needs to be eliminated.

I think I know why they have it listed as working; the original part number has been superceded, from part #21050-1110 to after market part #21050-1171 the part #21050-1171 which has been modified to cover all of those models listed, as blanket part. www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/kawasaki-flywheel-21050-1171-part.htmlThis is for just the flywheel itself, not the complete stator/generator charging system. The information for this could be wrong; but every single site I can find, says that's what all the previous part numbers for the listed models migrated to.

Likely, since the 454 was no longer made, and a lot of parts were no longer made, they transferred things to the Vulcan/Ninja numbers, not even thinking about the parts not being compatible. I have ran into many Kawasaki dealership parts people that have no idea what a 454LTD is.....sat and gave info & instructions to one guy for about an hour one time. GWK has had dealers call him asking for info. It's sad that dealerships are so many times so lacking proper info tro give customers. But I guess they are only interestede in very late models, since they will not work on older models.

Its been a few weeks now so time for an update on the project After stripping down the bike and boxing up all the parts iv started sorting through the good bad and the ugly, first thing was to take a look at the swing arm, I noticed a small hole so i decided to see how bad it actually was be tapping around with a hammer, i thinks it will be fine after a bit welding though I decided to plate most of the area just for extra re-enforcement Just added a bit of paint to stop any rust before going to the powder coaters Next is a job iv been waiting to do for while now and that's tackling the flywheel problem, after buying a Kawasaki ER500 flywheel i realising it wasn't going to fit, i had to keep on searching every day which finally paid off in the end, I managed to find a good second hand one on ebay for next to nothing! it cost me £7.98 including delivery which is a steal! A perfect fit!!! On with the casing just for time being until i get time to paint it up

es, it bolts on just fine.....however, if you have read thru the posts concerning the flywheel, you must remember the two engines fire different......the 500 flywheel will not allow the 454 enginge to fire properly, preventing it from starting and running. There is a post on how to modify the late model 500 flywheel to work on the 454 engine. If you have not done this, do not expect your engine to start and run.

No need to worry about any modification with this flywheel, its an exact replacement and even has the same part number, it come from a GPZ500 A model, everything about the flywheel matches the 450's original, im possitive that as long everything else on the bike is in working order then it should have no problem starting and running

I know the 94 is not. If, in fact, this one proves out to work, it will be info that is a huge help to others that need a flywheel. Make sure u keep us informed, please.

As as the "firing tab" is in the same place & the same length, you are good to go.It looks good from your pics. But is the crankshaft key in the same location in relation to the magnet?? All things considered, if the flywheels are exactly the same in every way, but the crank key is in a different spot, it won't work. Good Luck!

As you can see in this picture, the woodruff key lines up perfectly, I really done see any problems with it

Just wanted to chip in and say thanks for the updates. I'm about to embark (very slowly) on a full strip down and rebuild of my bike, and having some decent pictures posted, from the UK, is great.

I didn't see it mentioned; but for the sake of clarity, which part number did you use?
