the bike I bought my son today has a fair amount of rust in the tank. Any ideas of what I should do? Can I get a product to clean it out and seal it or should i just look for another one?

I used metal rescue. It works great. I'm not a salesman or anything. I searched online and found this product. It is non-toxic and works wonderfully. www.metalrescue.comSent from mobile using proboards app

Hey you. There is a lot of chemicals and products for that. Some say that "kleen" is the best product series for a job like this. Some say crc rust remowal is the only way to do it. This is how i did it.
Since i have a low budget for bikerepair i got around 200pc of bolts that fit easy in the tank. Remowe the cap and petcock, add in bolts, tape the both holes and shake that tank like theres no tomorrow. I shook it for about 30min. Great workout by the way. Now this is the tricky part. Get all the bolts out. It will be a nightmare.
You will see the tank is already much cleaner. To get rid of any rust particles left in the tank i myself used vinegar. Poored in around 5l and let it soak for 4 hours on each side. Then flush it, fill the tank many times with water to get rid off all the vinegar and for last use some gasoline or other paint thinner what so ever, let it dry out and here you can see a clean and lean fueltank. To prevent future problems with rust never leave your bike with a empty or half empty tank then storing it for a longer period of time.
Im sorry if my grammar isnt very good. English is my third language and i have hade very little practice lately
