Thanks Blaine! ;D I ordered mine, if the hose is missing im sure some fish tank tubing or weed eater hose will work right? Spent about 100 on parts, but got the bike for free so I cant complain and its in really good shape! thinking of a paint scheme now/LED accents as well.
what have I gotten myself into lol.
I read something about shimming the carb needles, is this necessary when switching to pods? and how is it done?

Yes you can make up a hose that will work for you. Some people don't need to shim the needles, but most do.You'll need to see how it runs with the pods on & we can go from there.Just a word of caution: When I installed my pods I spent many hours jetting & doing things by trail & error till I got the bike to respond properly. You may not need to go to this extreme, but it is a possibility. Also if it wasn't already mentioned, these engines need a good valve adjustment about every 7500 miles. The bike should be running perfect before tackling installing pods.As a ill running bike just makes the job that much harder.

+1 thank you, it was running pretty good prior the the carb bogging down issue, didnt feel like putting that airbox back on just to take it off again, seems i have misplaced the crankcase hose, so off to make a new one.
any good tutorials on adjusting valves?

This is for the Vulcan but the procedure is the same.Lots of pics to guide you.On ours you need to be careful not to drop the tach drive.Do a search there is lots of info on this. www.vulcanforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2609

Hey Blaine, you didn't give him your trick of how not to drop the tach drive. This trick was told to me by Blaine. Once you disconnect the tach cable from the top of the valve cover, slide a small piece of vac hose onto it. This will keep it from falling out and into the engine when you remove the valve cover. I did it when adjusting mine and it works great. Thanks blaine!

so got the EMGO filters on the carb, bike runs at full power, however it wont idle, even when idle screw is adjusted (all the way up) and it backfires/smokes alot.
I have spent alot of time going through it. (ran seafoam through it, cleaned jets, seafoam in tank, etc.)
this is frustrating.

A little late but if you look up MrmaxStorey on youtube he has alot of videos on how to fix a motorcycle just to help give you a general idea on what to do. His picture is of a dog with sunglasses.

Maybe there is a vacuum leak use a bottle of starter fluid and spray around the connections for the carbs if it goes up then you have found your culprit.
