Hi all, new guy here. My name is Don,this is my '89, I purchased it new on 3-23-89. It has been in storage since a work related back injury in May of 2000 prevented me from riding. It needs a lot of cleaning etc, but my plan is to ride it this summer. I have already replaced the carbs, plugs, oil, clutch cable, petcock rebuilt and tank cleaned and all 4 signals. I'm still waiting for the choke cable and front brake switch. Got her running last weekend and she sounds great. It has 8515 on the clock right now.

Thanks, When I was forced to park it, I didn't store it properly because I was sure my injury was minor and I would be back in the saddle within weeks. Well weeks turned to months and months to years, I am finally feeling like I can handle the riding for extended time now so I have a lot of sweat to exert in getting it road ready.

Welcome to the family my friend. Nice looking bike you have. She looks just like my 'ole girl did when I first got her. I also have an '89. I have since done some mods and additions to it. Like Blaine said, any questions feel free to ask. The only stupid question is the question not asked! Sent from my Droid 4 using Proboards Mobile App. ;D

Nice!!! Clean and polish her up and keep her looking like new....not too many around that look that good anymore. We do like some mods, upgrades, and some good "re-builds" into different looking bikes, but we really love the "like new" looking 454s

When I first decided to tackle this project I bought a carb set off ebay, I installed them without even messing with them ( I'm a pretty skilled wrench, but carbs are my weak spot)The bike started right up which i was pleased with but only wanted to run on 3/4 choke. Last night I got brave after doing lots of reading here (thanks for the insight and courage) I spent 6 hours doing a full teardown and cleaning of the original and otherwise factory set carbs, being careful to make sure it went back together exactly as it was. I installed them on the bike, hit the starter button (without choke) and I was right back in March of '89!! That thing runs like a new bike now!! No bog, no hesitation, no lag in throttle response at all. Now when I have some down time I will do the same with my e-pay parts and shelve them for future needs. I was able to take it for a brief 1/2 mile ride (it's not road legal yet)and it feels awesome to be on it once again. I had forgotten just how peppy that little bike is. Thanks again for a great site and source of information to help keep these girls running strong! Next up : Valve Adjustment. PicsDon

So today I happened to pick up an '86 with 16k on it, not in bad shape. Needs a little TLC but I should have it tiptop in about a week or so.
