Yup, i got my 88 Ltd at the start of this winter, its my second bike and when I got it, she worked fine for me. When winter came in full swing I kept it in my grandfather's heated garage where it is today. A few weeks ago I went to take it for a ride, but the battery was dead and wouldn't start. So I began messing around with it. Just checking it out and I realized that when I try to go into second gear, it won't do it. Theres no click, nothing. I can go into first and neutral fine but I don't know what to do. Someone help please! I'm new to riding and want to learn!

These bikes will not shift into 2nd unless they are moving.....It's called Positive Neutral Finder (PNF) It's exclusive to the Kawasaki 6 speed. Your bike is fine.

Ahhhh that's what I've heard, thanks a lot. Thought the shift linkage might've been broken. Used to have a magna 700 so this high tech kawi stuff isn't so familiar to me!

I ride an '86 454 LTD. You say bike won't shift to 2nd gear if not moving. Mine does. It's asier to shift into 2nd at a stand still than it is to shift into neutral. Why do you think that is?
