As the title states, which aftermarket petcock do you guys suggest for the 454? Am looking at gravity fed since the vacuum actuated is causing me issues. Also, would i have any issue running an inline filter with gravity fed petcock?

No problem with the filter, however, with the non-vacumn, gravity feed system, make sure the petcock is turned off when you shut the engine off....otherwise, there is the problem of having gas everywhere, due to flooded carbs. with gravity feed, the floats are most likely not going to shut the gas flow off, tht is the reason for the vacumn operated petcock.

Agreed Eagle, its a risk although my floats have always stopped the fuel (and I often forgot to turn the tap off!) and the one time they stuck it was just a slow leak back into the airbox. An inline fuel filter is easy to fit but can cause problems with access as there's so little space so plan carefully and sit the carbs and tank in place before deciding. My bike had a heavy duty fuel line from tank to carbs but this turned out to be a nightmare for the filter as it could hardly be bent so get some nice soft neoprene fuel line. Almost any petcock will do so long as the holes line up, they should come with a new rubber gasket but if for any reason that's not snug you can cut a rectangle of thin 1mm-2mm neoprene as an extra layer between the whole fitting, obviously with holes cut for screws and pipe. Mine lasted about a year before the fuel began to degrade it.

as for the line filter. agreed about the routing of the pipe. but there is an alternative. you can get a rail filter that fits in there think it's off the ZZR600 it's very small and drops into the inlet rail. got a part number some where if anyone wants to know. solves the issue of routing and pipe joins. www.ex-500.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fuel_Filter_Installation

Yes fitting an inline filter was a pain. Bought 3-4 different ones before finding one I liked that didn't bind up anything or put real presure on the connection. Used a "HURI 3 Clear Inline Gas Right Angle Fuel Filter for 1/4 5/16 6mm 7mm". Perfect fit

You can get silicone moulded caps for the carb vacuum, check the new fitting that there's no leaks around the tank fitting and good to go.
