Hey all! Great forum, I've been lurking for a few days as I picked up a 1990 En450 fixer upper to keep busy during quarantine. I tore the whole bike down today, tested the relays and diagnosed the issue as the starter needing to be rebuilt or replaced. I removed the started and disassembled and a few copper strands came out that I'm assuming somehow got cut from the rotating spindle in the middle. I also noticed a cut piece sticking up onto the spindle. Here's pics I took of the inside imgur.com/xRvQf29i.imgur.com/lyPUa1J.jpgJust wondering if this starter is still usable or if I need a full replacement.

from the photos it looks like the wires are from the motor windings unless you can get it rewound somewhere it's toast not a DIY job. replacements not too dear either used or rebuilt but make sure the replacement spins the right way some are left turning and will not start the bike because of the rotation.
