Carb kit is on the way - hoping to hear this thing fire on Friday! When I picked up this bike it was in pieces, so I do not have any pictures prior to tear down to reference. Can anyone show me a picture of your airbox from various angles? On page 4-10 of the manual: I am looking particularly what connects to the two small rubber elbows pointed inward aft of the air filter covers? The would be called out as PN 14073 here: www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/kaw/50a63835f870022c14fc4779/air-cleanerOf course any advice available on how to best put this together is also appreciated! Thank you in advance, TS

IIRC they are the air intakes, they just connect to the airbox and point in to the frame. The full airbox parts need to be fitted before trying to start as the 454 is sensitive to airflow changes and I'd suggest you hook up a temp fuel supply as you will probably be working on the top end for a while getting this right. if you are being methodical you'll want the valve clearances set with a carb clean/rebuild and new filters. The carb rubbers can be softened up with a hair drier where they should easily pop back to the half way point towards the airbox otherwise moving the carbs is very difficult and your knuckles will pay the price! Good luck.

Roger that - get the whole system together before testing! The previous owner was frustrated with the carb box, and did not help himself by abstaining from ethanol fuel, so when he pulled the carbs he got frustrated and decided to run pods - after all of the great advice here, I will NOT be running pods. Carburetors are not the black box voodoo devices that they once were for me, but I am inclined not to monkey around with the set up - I trust Kawasaki knew what they were doing. I worked with many engineers in the past who taught me about systems, and how to test things and not get creative with variables. I had it planned to get the valve adjustment done while waiting for the carb kit to arrive. I also have a small lawn mower tank mounted to a clamp with an inline fuel shut off and filter just for facilitating such testing - hoping for a smooth go of it. All of the rubber was pretty flexible, but I have it sprayed down with silicon inside of a closed plastic container to help preserve it. If those two small rubber elbows just are inlets from the atmosphere, then I should be able to get this going. *fingers crossed* Thank you!
