So I have a 1986 Kawasaki 454 that’s starts hard but idles fine. But when you try and drive it feels like it has a misfire. I have tried pulling the carbs to clean them (they looked really good on the inside) cleaned them and put them back in the problem continues I changed both spark plugs and the problem still continues I was hoping that one of you would have an idea as to what’s going on.

I had the same problem with my 86 and I ended up completely rebuilding my carbs. After they were rebuilt, the bike started running fine again without misfires.
A word of warning, I bought a carb rebuild kit off of eBay, but ran into some problems. The shop I took it to said the kit had the wrong jets so they had to redo everything for me. If you decide to rebuild yours make sure that you get your parts from a reputable source.
Best of luck!

Thanks for your reply To my knowledge the bike still has all the factory jets and they were really clean when I pulled the carbs so I didn’t replace them. Just today I pulled the diaphragms and they were clean with no holes I’m not really sure where to go from this point on though.
