I have a 1988 454 LTD with twin Mikuni VM carbs. I bought it a few months ago and now that it's warming up I started to take it on longer rides. No complaints until it shut down on my on the highway
The magnets on the flywheel had separated causing the battery to die.
I replaced the flywheel along with the stator and pickups. I also replaced the starter clutch and starter (it started, but slipped a lot)
In the process of trailering it back I snapped the throttle cable as well
$600 later I have the new parts installed. It starts and idles perfectly. I went to take it on a short run and it won't rev over 3000 rpm. I suspected a carb issue so I pulled them and cleaned them. They looked like new.
I pulled and checked the plugs and the gaps. The plugs were newly installed 2 months ago.
I'm at a loss of why it won't rev up like it did before.
Anyone run into something like this before?

Is the air box in place with the filters?

There is no air box but each carb has it's own filter. It ran fine prior to the flywheel coming apart, in it's current configuration.

Had an issue with the starter clutch so the bike was in pieces for a little while. All back together now. It's doing the same thing and cutting it when revved to 3k. Sprayed starter fluid at the carb boots and got no reaction.
This is really puzzling

I installed one of the pickups backwards. Stupid mistake but it stopped one coil from firing so I could start it and idle on only 1 cylinder
