Blaine, where are the mixture screws at? If I adjust them with the bike warm and idling I assume they are on the outside of the carbs? They are in front of the float bowels on the outside. They face downward. They are sealed from the factory unless somebody already drilled out the plugs. If they are drilled out you can see the screw from underneith.

I got to take a quick look at the carbs. It appears the mixture screws are not covered. I can not see the screw but I can feel it with a small precision screwdriver. Do they sell a tiny screwdriver to fit in that small space? Something shaped like an L allen wrench but with a small phillips or flat blade on the ends. I don't see being able to get to them with anything else without pulling the carbs. Especially on the right side of the bike with the starter in the way. Gonna have to look for an angled screwdriver like that. I think I have seen them. I'm gonna order my rebuild kits tomorrow from ebay. Taking the bike to the muffler shop tomorrow to see about the pipe bending and welding.

Do you know if the mixture screw is phillips or flat blade? Sent from my DROID4 using proboards They are a flat blade.I use a small bit from a multi bit driver. The small flat will fit & the 6-sided bit makes it easy to turn for adjustment. Here is another link from the EX forum that has some really good pics. www.ex-500.com/wiki/index.php?title=Carburetor_Maintenance

Your pic showed me where to find them. I like the bit idea, should work good. Do you use a small wrench to turn the bit or are the screws easy enough to turn by hand?
Gonna bookmark that link. Looks like some good pics for sure. Thanks Blaine!
