What is different about them? They look REALLY close to what we run.

The early (90 - 95) tanks are the same as the 454. The later model, with the speedo on the tank, Vulcans are basically a Vulcan 800 (longer) frame, to include the 800 tank, with the 500 engine installed.

So the tanks with the gauge in them will not fit correct?

Blaine, Eagle; Is it just the 500 tanks that will work, or will the early Vulcan 750 tanks work as well?

Nope...the 750 tanks are 4 inches longer, and since the 750 has a "double backbone", the tank tunnel is considerably wider, and the front mounting is different. In order to get the 750 tank to fit, the 454 backbone and frame would have to be stretched at least 4 inches, and some kind of front mounts for the tank would have to be frabricated. Due to the way the engine is mounted in the frame, this would be somewhat difficult, but not impossible.....I have been running thru my head, a way to do this, as I already have an extra 454 frame and a Vulcan 500 frame and the tank. I would combine the 454 front half and Vulcan 500 rear half. The rear part of the vulcan is different than the 454, and using a 500 swingarm (longer).. I would wind up about 7 or 8 inches longer frame/wheelbase.

Thanks Eagle.
Maybe one of the admins could sticky this thread....Under....Compatible Replacement Parts
Along with a starter clutch thread where EX and EN500 parts are stated to work.
