I picked up an 88 en450. Needs some electrical help and it has no air box or filters . Kid I got it from said it had pods on it. Supposedly it ran fine til one of the pods fell off, and it started running rough. This is the condition I bought it in.
So my question is should I locate a used air box assembly or does anyone know of another route ?

Thx These bikes will not run without either the airbox or filters of some type.Why don't you replace the one pod filter & see what you have.  |

That's what I was thinking about doing. Needs both so I expect to spend about $20 on pods. Though found complete airbox for $50 including shipping. So I figured if someone on here told me pods don't work I could save $20.

So I figured if someone on here told me pods don't work I could save $20. Pods will work well.You may need to do some carb tuning if it already hasn't been done. IMO pods are way better than the airbox once you get things tuned in.  |

As many on here will I am sure agree, there is it seems a regular need to pull the carbs for one reason or another. Pods makes this MUCH easier. If it had pods before I would DEFINITELY put pods back

Sounds good. When i went to tech school they spent half hour talking about carbs, ending with=most of you will probably never see one once you start working. That said ,carb tuning is probably the one thing I'll bring it to a garage for.
