Hello, this is my first bike, along with my first carb work. Anyways, the bike stalls when I slightly give it gas. Smells and seems like it is drowning in fuel. I know I have a gas leak thru the carb and gaskets and o rings are on the way. But even with the air box on it stalls. And when I took the airb9x off, I noticed gas sputtering thru the back end of the carb. I know bits and pieces but am still learning parts names are nd placement. Any advice?

Floats are sticking.....Don't run it any more till carbs are cleaned. When you remove carbs do one at a time so parts don't get mixed up.Leave the carbs in the rack.

Okay, I've taken the carbs out. To be honest the floats seem to be fine. No gunk, no sticky movements. Cleaned the carb ( didn't soak) and put it back together.
Just recently the bike was harder to start. Got it to run and idle smooth but still 1/8 throttle bogs down til stall. Cant slowly get into gear. Either clutch out and no throttle or good amount of throttle and take off fast. It's killing me.

Thanks, went to my local bike shop and they recommended soaking carb over night. 2 questions, 1 is the smog pump better off removed? And 2. Where is the regulator/rectifier usually mounted?

Yes remove the smog junk.Gives you more room when time to adjust the valves & cleans things up.Regulator is in front of tank on right side.

Yea, I just found the spot where the reg goes. Person before me had it hanging by fan (guessing they never put it back.) And I will remove the smog and block off the 3 vacuums if it will help. Also, the petcock will still be fine being used normally? Like I wont have to swtich it to prime to run properly? Last thing. I recently let my carb soak overnight. I put it back together this moring after thruoughly cleaning it and making sure it was dry. (I still need float bowl seal) The same issues happens. This time for some reason I cant get a steady idle for long without it dying. I got the bike to start (easily) and idle on full choke. (New tach line is on the way so I cant tell you the RPMS) But still with the 1/8 throttle the bike will bog down aggressivly and then when i release throttle. I found the fuel adjustment screw on the bottom of the carb bowls, behind that little metal circle, but i havnt the slightest how to adjust it. Was told to tighten it til i feel the slightest pressure then pull back out 1 and 1/4 turns. did that and still weird idles. Im stabbing at this and saying it is a vacuum issue, in which i hope this smog delete will fix. Also on a side note, after the engine died from bad idle I removed the carb and noticed white smoke coming from the engine. good amount, not for too long. My mind tells me I have a vacuum leak causing the diaphram not to pull correctly when 1/8 idle and that also i am running rich when idle creating the white smoke? Am I in the right ballbark? ? Thanks in advance!

And what sizes do i need to block the valve cover and right nipple? Yes your in the right ball park.I agree vacuum leak.As long as petcock gets vacuum it will work properly. I think 1/4 inch. Idle mixture should be at 2 1/2 turns out & than adjust slowly for best idle.

Ok. Well, lets see this smog pump delete and see how she purrs. and for clarification purposes, there are 4 holes where jets would normally be, and the red circled ones are the fuel mixture screws (in which i was speaking) From top to bottom we have 1. no clue 2. jet of some sort 3. Main jet 4. Where the float plug goes. Still new to this. Correct me if Im wrong. But do these need to be set an certain ways or just placed in there snug? And the fuel mixture on you say needs to be 2 1/2 turns out and fine tuned from there? Credit for this original picture goes to Garrethr. Red markings are Zekkfett.
