Okay. Here we go. I was looking over the posts and seen many on exhaust upgrades and what not. But none had specifics. I though 1 3/4 baffles would fit in the pipes when I removed the exhaust, but they did not. Anyone got sizes on the right baffle?
Also, hear many saying Porky Pig mufflers are great. Again, any particular size for the 454. More like a slip on bolt up kinda style?
My stock exhaust is shot. Tried removing baffles but they are stuck. I would like to keep the exhaust off and put 6" baffles in the pipe, but I'm uncertain what size diameter I'd need to slip in, as well as metal baffle with no material or with it. I want it loud enough to be heard while riding behind a few cars. But not killing the ears of children beside me. ... any help is appreciated.

Just bought my first bike, an 85 454 ltd and I love it! but like you .... the exhaust is shot! looks like the previous owner just stuck an autozone tip on her... stright pipe and tip... in his ad he said 'with 4" baffles " its loud, but in the annoying catergory. but like you want it loud to be heard... Thanks in advance for any help & info.

I ended up buying a set from amazon. Emgo style. I got the satin black shorty mufflers. 40 bucks a piece.

There are several posts on the forum of how to change the ends of the header pipes to 1 3/4 inch, in order to clamp on any 1 3/4 inch inlet mufflers.

They make exhaust pipe reducer sleeves that will adapt a larger pipe to a smaller one, I used some of them to put Harley mufflers on mine
