I know it has been mentioned a lot and it seems that most people use a trailer fender when they install a solo seat. I am pretty new to modifying a bike and I would like to keep the original parts on my 88 454 free from altering so I can always go back to stock for any reason. So here are a few pics of a bobber fender I found. I was hoping someone smarter than me can let me know if this could work or to run far far away. If it does work, where is the best place to mount it. I plan on doing the ls650 seat mod and would like to have both turn signals, tail lights and a plate mounted.

I guess with a lack of replies it is most likely a bad idea. I'm just looking for a beginner way to replace the rear fender. Is the trailer fender the way to go?

Thanks for the reply. I may give it a shot for at least a temporary fender. Can you recommend a good place to mount?

The rear part of the 454 frame is the problem, due to the angle upwards. That fender id made for a "straight" frame, like a hardley davisson, so, as with any fender, a mock-up by holding the fender in place, and seeing where it sits and fits is about the only way to figure out where and how to bolt it...just about all fenders differ in how they have to be mounted.

I've got that fender on my Ltd. Requires five bolts to keep it solidly in place. Downside is the holes already made on the sides, very big and are too close to the wheels.
