Hi everyone Im having problems fitting the carb to airbox manifold rubbers to wifes 1984/5 en454. Cant seem to get them to fit to the airbox (all oem parts). Haynes and Clymer manuals aren't much help, but neither are my big hands?? Any tricks I should be aware of? Tried softening them in hot water etc but the steel insert is making things difficult. 😳😢

no need, what i ment was connect the carbs in to the air box then connect to the engine. you can also push the airbox rubbers in to the airbox and one at a time feed the rubbers over the carbs. with time and practice they will fit, it is pig of a job but can be done. also use some wd40 as a lube on the carb and rubbers. someware on this site someone had a idea where you make up some discs with string which fit over the end of the airbox rubbers and you can pull the rubbers back into the airbox but i think this was a way of fitting the carbs on the engine. i have not done this job for years so im trying to remember hope some of this helps
