Good day!
I'm the proud new owner of a 454. I found this beauty after sitting 9 years in a shed. I drained and cleaned the tank. Removed the carbs, cleaned up. Oil/coolant flush, etc.
I can't find the filters for the old airbox in my area, so I've opted for the 54mm pod style filters. I've noticed I get a lot of splashing from the case breather, and thr bike runs great. Struggles with top end power though. Won't Rev past 4-5k in most gears. Tops out at 65km/h.
My next step is looking into rebuilding the carb with 130 jets, and shimming my needle. Has this worked for anyone else? I might have to clip a few rings off ny slide springs.
Any insight would be appreciated. Runs good for my daily driver to work at the moment where the max speed limit is 70km/h. But, I want to get this beauty on the main roads.
Thanks in advance!

Nobody switched to pods and got it right first time! I think I'd want to know the bike was performing well with stock carbs first, the OEM filters are usually easy enough to get from ebay etc.

Found and corrected the issue.
Pod filters ran great, then encountered a newer, worse issue.
My thermostat stopped working, I was on a long trip with a friend, and when we got to location(city driving) I had a rapid increase in temo and my rad blew. Now I have to take the engine out and do a check up, as I have a knocking sound that seems like a rod.
If it isn't one thing it's another.
