O.K. another question - Eagle gave me a great set of basic instruction for the pod mod on the carbs - sounds easy enough - one question however - he refers to adding a filter to the crank case vent - I assume I can take a short piece of tube (inch or two long) - insert one end into the breather hole and attach a small air filter to the other end (something like one would use on a very small engine/weedeater type but, probably smaller...I see them ath the hardware store). I assume as long as it gets airflow it will be fine and the filter is not to specific. Here is what eagle sent:
Actually, its very simple: the airbox is removed, 54mm pod filters (I recommend Emglo brand)are installed, as well as a small filter for the crankcase vent (hose size is approx 5/8th inch). The idle mixture is re-adjusted-start with 2 1/2 turns out, then fine tune when engine is running, and the vac hose on the right carb(sitting on bike)is "T"ed into the vac hose that goes to the petcock ( or capped off). So many members thought that re-jetting was a must, but I never had to re-jet, even using many different exhaust systems. Make sure the bike is fully adjusted properly, and running
right before mods are done - if you attempt them!!!
My only other concern is that since I'm coming from a "re-build / new salvage engine / chop and rebuild - the airboxes will already be off...maybe I could tape them in place until tuned....
Any picture would be great - I promise I'm pretty mechanical and wont ask to many questions - this is pretty strait forward.
