Indeed, having a fender is better than none.. Kawasaki warns that the 454 should not be used if it has no front fender, as the fender is what keeps the front wheel stable by connecting between the forks near the wheel.

Yes..it acts as a fork brace.

Just got new slip on mufflers. Helix 20" turn-outs. They cost 168.00 for the pair including shipping from SRS Motorsports. This video does not do the sound justice. They aren't EXTREMELY obnoxious but they ARE LOUD. Just slightly quieter than no mufflers at all. Sorry for the shaky camera. I didn't realize until I was already uploading.

Hey that's my center stand! But nice work man! I didn't know about the fender being a brace until I laid the bike down about a week ago. Thought I bent my triple trees. Turns out I just needed some one to hold my wheel as I monkeyed the front end back into alignment. Pain in the bottom. But you didn't like my straight pipes? Too obnoxious?
P.S. any parts you didn't see on my bike, you can have if your trying to restore it. Iv'e got mufflers, sissy bar, both fenders, toolbox, belt cover. And my old belt assembly too! Don't need it now that I'm chain drive!

I didn't say I didn't like 'em. Just that they were loud. What I have now is a bit too loud for me too. But the money is paid so until I can figure out how to install some mild baffles, I will live with it. It ain't that bad, and starting to grow on me. I just have a problem with my ears ringing inside my full-face when I wear it. With my open face helmet, I enjoy actually hearing the bike for a change.

I've been awol for a long while but I'm finally able to get back to my baby. It's time for a complete redo. Time and money are in VERY short supply so it's gonna be a slow process. I will update as I go

Hard to believe that pile used to be a motorcycle Sandblasted and primed with zinc chromate primer. It accepts any type paint I choose to topcoat with and the zinc helps prevent rust and corrosion

I used duplicolor finish system clear which comes ready to spray. No mixing or adding hardener. Then I added "lime green candy" tint from paintwithpearl.com. It sprays VERY well. The picture doesn't really do justice to the metallic shimmer on this paint job

Had a friend help me lay out the tank. Paint will be done tomorrow. I can't wait to get my baby back together. She is going to be a WHOLE different bike than what I started with.

Got the wheels cleaned up, painted in flat black, and remounted. At least she rolls. Today is the first time in 6 months for that to happen. Rain prevented tank painting. Maybe tomorrow
