i was thinking about putting some universal air filters on my en450 (1986) instead of the stock filter and air box.
But..... in am new to MC's, so do i need to change the main jet. And if i do, what seize?

Most times you will need to re jet,but not always. You won't know for sure until you install pod filters. The size of main jet,if needed depends a lot on your location & elevation. If you are just looking for a cheaper stock filter,HIFLO-FILTRO makes one that is about !/2 the price of O.E.M.Good luck.

Hate to bring a thread back from the dead but as I live in AZ in the desert would I need to re-jet the carb? I have been thinking about doing the pod filter mod but don't know how to re-jet the carb.

Personally I don't think it's a good idea to put pod filters on it if you live in a desert... those things don't really filter out all the dust that well..
A couple of years back I also had a pod filter on my 50cc scooter, but with rain or driving through dusty area's the thing always ran like sh*t because the carburetor kept getting clogged up with dust..
So I refitted the original airbox, drilled the hole a bit bigger so it could suck in more air and ever since it ran fine..
With my 454 I also removed those restrictors from my airbox.. give's a nice deep hollow sound when you rev up

That would be for to foam type..which I don't really like. I have always used and prefer the Emgo pods...no foam, no oil, smaller......and they have done a great job for me, GWK, and many others. One thing...before ANY mods, such as pod filters, make sure the bike is running right to begin with...many have not had their bikes running right..slapped on the pod filters, and had tons of problems.

I have the "Emgo" pod filters. They say you can run them dry or oiled with aerosol spray oil. From my understanding they will filter finer particles when they are oiled and are more water proof.
