I bought an EN450 fixer upper in the hopes of turning it into a bobber. Well, that was a year ago and I proceeded to tear down the bike, and build it back up again. I had to take off the carburetor in order to get it rejetted. in the process I busted my Air box, but i wanted to get away from it and use CAI filters...anyone that has done this already, I would love to hear your input on this....

I recently changed to pod filters and got rid of the air box.I t gives you much more room to work.I changed to a 130 jet from a125.Just wondering why you needed to re-jet before you broke air box.

When I bought the bike from my brother, the bike was taking a long time start, even with the choke. so much so , that it would run down the battery. I decided to take the carburetor off to see if the jets were clogged and they were. now i need to button back up, but i'm worried that airbox played a role in the whole scheme because a hose, if i remember correctly, came from the carb to the air box in addition.

Re jetting your carb can be a real pain if you are not familiar with doing it.I would put things back as they were. When you get bike running properly than you can consider putting on pod filters. The easiest way to keep dirt out of your carbs is to install a inline fuel filter.

Blaine, question. I had my bike running great all summer. Cooler weather came and it was tough to start but it did. Colder weat her came and it wouldn't start. Bought new battery and still had massive troubles. Got the bike to start with time, guessing after trying for a while, engine warmed up .2° and it eventually started. Anyways. I bought pods and jets, aND installed. Though it would bog when revd or started moving, around the 3-4krpm. ( went from 125 to 130) .. wondering if you have any tips regarding this. Fuel mixture screws are 2 1/2 turns out from seated comfortably and idle adjust needs to be constantly fiddled with to get to start. any help is appreciated. Changing plugs this weekend.

And a week prior to this, I took the carb home with me and spent quite some time cleaning the jets and the rest of the carb. Also clipped 3 rings off the plunger springs for easier throttle vacuum.

How long/miles since valves were adjusted. These bikes need a check/adjustment every 6000 to 7500 miles.Hard starting cold is one sign of valves too tight causing lost compression.
