anybody help me out with this i dont know which way is which higher or lower so some help would be great..i got a 1987

Are you talking about the rear socks? If so, the shock adjustment does not lower the bike, it adjusts the "pre-load of the springs, for carrying heavier or lighter loads. The way to physically lower the bike is shorter shocks...best ones are Suzuki Savage LS650, or Honda Rebel 450.

to be honest i have no idea this is my first bike and im not privy the names of parts yet..but earlier today i bumped in to some riders i know and they laughed that i was sitting on the frame and floormat because my legs are to short to get comfy..and they said there is some sort of adjustment on the bottom of the shocks ..so im not sure whats goin on with that..but thanks for letting me know i would have spent hours tryin to figure it out

Have a good look at the bottom of your shocks.You will see a round hole that a screw driver will fit into,to turn the bottom of the shock.Make sure that the screw driver fits the hole snugly.Once you study it for a few minutes,you will see the notches that soften the preload on the shocks.
