hey all...sorta new and sorry for the silly question, but how do you remove the battery on a '86 454 ltd? I removed the seat, removed the screw holding the square box on top of the battery on, pulled the battery up, but it goes like 2-3 inches, and then I can;t get it any higher...the cables or purge hose are not binding it, it doesn't seem....it is almost as if it has some sort of catch or something. any help would be appreciated.

Mine has a kind of tongue and groove setup on the side. The battery has a "tongue" that has to come up exactly through a groove in the battery box. It sounds like that is about the height I can lift the battery before I have to line it up.

I have the groove, it's like a slide where the vent knob slides in and through...but that isn't it. I lined it up. I cannot remove the battery cables, because I cannot pull the battery up enough to access the terminals to remove the cables. (on mine they face the back fender and are on the top but sideways.) ....seriously nothing holding it in eh?.........darn....this is just weird..... also is it a 6 v or 12 v battery?

Try a stubby screwdriver(I'm assuming that your posts have a phillips head) I have to get the battery up high enough for the vent to sit on top of the battery box to kinda hold it there while I disconnect the cables, then it comes on out.

I'll try that, but I think the screws are locked on pretty good. one way or another it's going to come out, if I have to remove the whole cage or not, but just figured I'd ask if there was something to it.

I did this not too long ago and it took a while until, i was able to grip the battery and jiggle it a little. With a little effort it came out
