Why is there push cable? cant you just use the pull and put a spring on the carb linkage for tension? Just curious, trying to get rid of un necessary stuff to make it look sleak and clean. Thanks in advance.

U could do that...but u still would have the same throttle mechanics on your handlebars, so why mess with it....if it aint broke, why try to fixit? ?

Thanks in advance. I broke my throttle cable a while ago & transferred my push cable over to get me by until a new one came in.It worked fine. The spring on the carb is quite strong. The return cable is there for safety, in case the spring ever breaks you can still "turn" the throttle off.Without it the throttle would stick wide open.

I must be missing the spring on my carbs then. I was unaware they had a spring on the linkage. That would explain why my throttle is not coming back that good. Thanks guys and good idea of using one as the spare if the other breaks.

The push cable is a liability/legal thing... that's it. If the throttle cable breaks while riding, there's the potential the throttle could stick open. Instinctively people will close the throttle and not hit the kill switch. A lot of off-road bikes omit it as it isn't necessary for operation.
