Started bike after not riding it for several days. Even with full choke, it ran very rough and did not seem to idle. I turned the petcock to prime and tried to start it again. It tuned over several times and then started but began gushing fuel from the air box (I think). Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Peace.

Float needle stuck or some crud in carb not letting the needle seat, resulting in flooding carb(s). Run a good dose of Seafoam thru a tank of fuel.

Also check air box for excess fuel that you may need to clean up.Check your engine oil to be sure that there is no fuel in it.

Rebuilt carbs and put them back in and added a inline fuel filter since I can't seem to get all the junk out of the tank. Started bike and fuel ran down the side of the carb. Thinking I needed a better clamp on the fuel line, I ran to NAPA. Put the clamps on the fuel line and turned the key realizing I had left the ignition on for quite a while and the battery was dead. MF! Having one of those days...

I build and work on bikes as a relaxing leisure hobby; I have a rule, that if 3 things go wrong like you mentioned, I clean up put things away and come back in the house...before irritation sets in; three things is my limit, any more and it's not relaxing any more. One problem is usually a signal to slow down and take my time and be meticulous, second problem is a sign that I just don't have my mind on what I am doing and just kinda on auto pilot...and the third problem is just hang it up for the day go in, take a shower, get something cold to drink, and enjoy the air conditioning, and troll my forums trying to help other people. Some times i just skip the bike work I am semi retired; so that routine seems to keep me busy.

I follow similar rules. At the point where it seems everything I touch turns to s#$t, I give it the sign of the cross and call it a wrap. I never want to get to the point where I become a danger to myself or others. ;D Thanks to whomever is responsible for having forums such as this awesome one, to vent. Peace.
