Before I can work on my 88 454 LTD I'm trying to finish my 82 Spectre.
Having a heck of a hard time finding what should be a simple answer to this question:
What is the Kawasaki-Factory specification for the carburetor float height?
I've been on two other boards for weeks, trying to get that answer. I get answers from people who say they're referencing their "FSM" but their answers are all different from one another.
My guess is they're using FSMs for "similar" carbs or "similar" models of that bike; but not for the exact model I have.
So I figured I'd ask here in case anyone has the correct answer (and please, don't give general advice; I'm looking for a pull directly from the Kawasaki manual for that bike):
What is the Kawasaki (not Keihin, not Clymer) factory service manual say is the correct Keihin CV34mm (not Mikuni CV34mm) float height setting for the 1982 Kawasaki KZ750-N1 (that exact model number, not an E-1 or D-1, not a Gz) 750cc 4-cylinder Spectre Shaft Drive bike, U.S. model?
If you don't have access to that manual, feel free to tell me how to contact someone you know who does; but I'd appreciate if you just don't reply if you don't have that exact manual. Nothing personal -- I've heard a dozen guys give all sorts of advice and answers, when none of them had the correct manual. I'm not looking for opinions or experience or guesses or rules of thumb, etc. -- I'm looking only for what Kawasaki says THAT bike's carb is supposed to be set at.
One guy said that Kawasaki didn't publish the float height for that bike's carb. If you know that answer is correct, please provide the reference from Kawasaki that says so. Otherwise it just sounds like another, "I can't find the answer, so it must be that it isn't published..." statement.
Frustrated as heck with this one. About ready to take a sledgehammer to the thing. been trying for TWO WEEKS just to get one simple answer and no-go on that try.
I also don't know if I like the bike, so I don't want to spend $60 on a manual just to later find that I hate the bike.
Would rather ride the 454, but it needs a lot of work..... i want this Spectre on the road first and will probably work the 454 over the winter.
