I have an 89 454 ltd and i need new carbs. i found some carbs on ebay for $100 that i want to buy but they are for an 85. will they fit my year? thanks

all the 454 carbs are the same for all years 85 thru 90. You can also use the larger CFM carbs off the EX (Ninja) 500 2002 up.

also what does cfm mean? would it be wiser to just purchase the larger carbs so that i can gain more power? will it fit directly or do i need to make modifications. thank you all for the help.

CFM means "cubic feet per minute" The amount of air the carbs can handle in volume per minute.The bigger the number the larger the carbs.You may need to re-jet.More air means more fuel.
