Hello, In case somebody gets bored I thought it might be interesting to post some the pics of my 86 which needed a little TLC to a running (knock on wood) bike. I wish I had set out to actually document some of the work so the pictures would be thorough, but I didn't. They are just snapped at random stages and I didn't want to lose them so I put them in one place. I thought the carbs might be interesting to browsers as there don't seem to be as many pictures of the Kiehin CVK34's on the internet as I would have thought. I am not done, so I will add as the work progresses. Nevr Dull turns out to work well, but is a very slow process. fortreg.com/remat457/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=35

Well it's about time ;D I've been wondering what that beast looked like. If you need to polish some stuff up, Nevr-dull can be slow going and better as a final polish, grab a cheap 2-liter of diet cola and some aluminum foil, fold the foil into a square pad; dip it in the diet cola, and hit the rust spots with it.

I trust diet cola to drink, however, I will try it as a rust remover thanks

I think diet cola is more suited for rust removal than drinking, so you're braver than I ;D

That was actually a typo, it was supposed to say I don't trust diet cola to drink!
And ironically it does make a much better rust remover!
If I hadn't actually tried it, I would have never believed it. 1 hour with NevrDull was duplicated in minutes with Diet Dr Pepper and aluminum foil!
umm...makes me wonder what it does to your stomach...

It's the phosphoric acid in it that does the trick, it separates the foil particles and helps remove the rust and make a new layer with the foil particles.
Cola's especially diets, have the highest content of phosphoric acid; but yeah it's nasty stuff for the body. I didn't drink any soda for 2 years, because I used to get kidney stones, and soda helps promote the formation of stones. I tried a coke after those two years and spit the mouthful out. It tasted like a can of chemicals, it wasn't remotely sweet or flavorful at all, like it used to be when I drank soda often.
