;D ;D ;D Beeuutiful!! Don't see too many like this anymore.....this one makes two, just in the past few days! Love to see them in such "cherry" condition. The luggags racks are very scarce..every once in a while, u can find one on ebay, but be prepared, they tend to be pretty pricey.

I must say it's a beauty.. I've never seen one in that good condition. You also got the highwaybar (case guard) I see. And it looks brand new too. Lucky you.! I've been searching a highway bar for quite some time. Not easy to find - especially in Europe where I live..

Hoi Jeroen, Bedankt! Ik heb mijn LTD in Nederland gekocht en heb hem meegenomen naar de VS in mijn verhuiscontainer (ik ben in 2006 naar Colorado vertrokken) I was just thanking Jeroen in Dutch, since I'm originally from the Netherlands myself. I moved to Colorado 7 years ago No changes were made to my bike since the last photo shoot. However, I have been able to find an original and complete tool kit for an 1985 LTD 454 on Ebay (perfect match with my bike)! I have been looking for one of these for a loooong time I also started collecting motorcycle magazines from 1985 which have road tests and reviews for the LTD 454. So far I have collected 4 of those. Very fun to read. The only thing that I am currently missing is an original Owners Manual for an '85 LTD 454. Anyone?

Good find.I'm not a fan of the studs myself. If 3 aftermarket pieces are too much for you too handle I can take that luggage rack off your hands!! Lol ;D

Of all the times I have drooled over the pictures of your bike, I never noticed the tank dimple until now. Regardless, you have a bike in simply incredible condition. I would gladly suffer a dimple in my tank to have the rest of it look like yours. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to the family. As has been said several times already, you have a very nice looking bike. After almost 2 years of searching I came across the luggage rack and engine guard earlier this year. I found both new old stock in 2 different dealers in the US. I am still searching for the extended backrest. My bike still needs a little bit of work. It is not all stock. I replaced the stock exhaust and put a set of H-D mufflers on and wrapped the exhaust with black fiberglass wrap. I'm currently working on a heel/toe shifter. I've posted a pic below of my bike. Love the look of your ride!

I would gladly suffer a dimple in my tank to have the rest of it look like yours. Thanks for sharing. Thanks! You are correct, there are actually 2 dimples in the tank (one on each side). They were both already there when I bought the bike and I haven't fixed it yet. I'll keep an eye out on Ebay to see if there is ever a good tank for sale (probably not, or too expensive ). So some day I may just fix the one I have. It would have to be repainted and it will need new decals, but it's probably worth the money. Also, if you look real closely, you will see that the exhaust pipe covers are off. They were dented and rattling when I bought the bike, so I just took them off and threw them away. It doesn't really bother me, but to bring the bike back to pristine I should probably buy a new set.

I've been staring at your bike (like many others) all weekend..just beautiful. My uncle is giving me his 85 model today that he purchased new. I've not seen him in many years, and have no idea what the bike looks like, other than it is black like yours. I'm hoping to bring it back to this kind of condition. Already ordered my first part..inspired by you. LOL I found the chrome radiator side covers and have them on the way. Really thought it added a nice touch to yours. Thanks for posting your photos..very inspiring.

Thanks I got some new exhaust shields, so they are back on (gotta love Ebay). Now, the only imperfection left is the tank. I have given up hope on ever finding a tank in pristine condition. It will always have some dimples or at least scratches. Or the decals will have faded. So I decided to get a used tank on Ebay and do a full restoration (yes, I could restore the existing tank, but then I can't ride the bike until the project is finished). See pictures below. The tank I got already had some custom paint scheme on it. I took most of it off with paint stripper. Then I bead-blasted it all down to bare metal. I will drop it off at a radiator shop today and have it boiled out. It looks pretty clean on the inside, but I just want to be sure I get any hidden rust or crud out. There are a few dents/dimples that I need to remvove (filler) and then it will be ready for some fresh new paint and decals. I will have it painted professionally (auto body shop). The decals are a bit of a problem (can't get them anywhere). I think I will have to recreate the decals myself, by copying the existing ones into Adobe Illustrator, then have them printed on 2-mil vinyl or something. I will keep y'all posted

"New" exhaust shields? Were they the NOS I saw? I went back a hour after I saw a set of NOS on Ebay, and they were gone..LOL My bike had a good bit of rust on the chrome (it had been stored in a 3 wall shed, so rain had splashed onto it over the years), but I've replaced all that already. Only 3100 miles on her so I'm trying to do a sympathetic restoration, with the only modifications being the chrome radiator cover, and I put on the Savage shocks to lower it in the back..it just felt too high for me. The bike was completely original, accept for the battery, and the oil. Even the oil filter was original.
